On Sunday 12 July 2015 East Village hosted a tennis themed summer fair, and it proved to be a roaring success.
Over 1000 people attended the East Village E20 Fair in Victory Park, as a giant screen was erected to show the Wimbledon Men's Final between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Beanbags were provided for people to lounge on, and many brought blankets, pillows cusions and even duvets as they nestled down under overcast skies. They were rewarded when the clouds parted and the park was bathed in sunshine!
Food stalls with everything from strawberries & cream and Pimms through to shrimp burgers and marshmallows were hugely popular, with many sold out.
Guest performers and the Allotment Olympicks provided entertainment for children, and even when the heavens did open many stayed under their brollies and continued to enjoy the match with smiles on their faces.
It marked the second Summer Event in East Village this year, with the Outdoor Film Festival next on the agenda in August.
