Last year we brought you the chocolate festival, but in 2017 we're going one better and hosting a CHEESE and WINE festival! This is a free non-ticketed event on Saturday April 1 from 12-6pm and Sunday April 2 from 11am-4pm.
There will be no need to go online to Brie-Bay, because we've cheddared the world and the feta cheese to get all the best cheeses in one location for the free, non-ticketed event.
On the first weekend of April, East Village will be transformed into a haven for cheese lovers with a festival showcasing the very best in artisan cheese and wine from over 25 independent retailers.
The one-off event will feature a range of delicious wine and cheese from around the world, as well as indulgent cheese boards, condiments and chutneys along with tempting wine and cider.
From fine Italian gourmet truffle cheese from Lombary Gourmet to high-quality treats from traditional farm and dairy Jacob’s Ladder, even the most advanced cheese connoisseurs will be impressed. Additionally, there will be a selection of irresistible street food, including cheese Arancini, cheesy burgers and the skiers’ favourite alpine dish, raclette.
Everyone knows that cheese goes best with wine, so East Village has ensured that the finest wine producers will be at the festival. Sip delicious sparkling wine from Grays and Feather or try out ethically made, hand crafted wine from DVine Wines. If wine isn’t your thing, state-of-the-art craft beer brewers Meantime Brewery will be on hand to provide beer and cider.
To finish off the day, visitors will be invited to try some delicious chocolate treats from award nominated handcraft chocolatiers Zara’s Chocolates or tuck into artistic treats from chocolate sculptor Paul Wayne Gregory.
There will also be a selection of workshops and talks taking place throughout both days where visitors will find the perfect cheese and wine pairing.
