For the first weekend of April 2017 Victory Park was transformed into a haven of cheese, wine, and general merriment!

Get Living London's FREE Cheese and Wine Festival attracted more than 12,000 people over the two days, with a real British festival feel present throughout the heart of East Village as attendees spread out across Victory Park in the sunshine, enjoying cheeses, breads, chocolates, olives, wines, beers, proseccos and much more from the festival. The fun in the sun vibes extended across the whole of East Village with visitors enjoying the range of independent retailers across E20.

On Saturday the festival hosted a cheese sculpting success following the global success of our Brei-once sculpture in the build up to the event. The competition involved three sculptures creating amazing Cheese sculptures of Donald Trump, Stevie Wonder (Cheesy Wonder), Bear Grylls (Camen-Bear Grylls) and the eventual winner, The Incredible Hulk (In-Chedible Hulk).

With free workshops taking place with the likes of wine expert Tim Atkins, through to Tom from the Great British Bake Off, the main tent proved to be a popular spot. This followed on into the evening of Sunday when people descended on Tina, We Salute You for the ultimate Cheese Feast and a cheese based pub quiz!

Everything is better in the sunshine, and better still in East Village and the Cheese and Wine Festival only built on the success of the 2016 Chocolate Festival. We look forward to whatever 2018 may bring!

There will be more free events coming to East Village during the course of 2017 so keep an eye on the website for details as and when they are announced.
