East Village has welcomed its first convenience store, Sainsbury’s Local, which opened this week in the E20 postcode and former Athletes’ Village. The store offers an excellent range of fresh fruit and vegetables, an in-store bakery and a pizza counter, providing residents with a brand new local supermarket with everything they may need on their doorstep.

To mark the opening of the new store, four-time Paralympic Champion, Ellie Simmonds OBE joined local children to cut the ribbon where she celebrated winning four medals in the London 2012 Games.

The arrival of Sainsbury’s provides a great opportunity for residents to shop locally and the store will no doubt play an important role in East Village going forward. This latest addition to the neighbourhood is just one of a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants that are set to open, helping East Village become a vibrant and exciting place to live.

The store will be open from Monday – Saturday 7am-11pm and Sunday 11am – 5pm.
